University of Florida New Engineering bUILDING

FIRST FLOOR LAB RENOVATION

Gainesville, Florida

Mechanically, the existing air handling unit was reused with new supply air valves for each classroom, while outdated fan coil units were replaced. General exhaust valves were installed to prevent hazardous air recirculation, maintaining proper pressure relationships. With an open ceiling design to showcase building systems, the HVAC components were designed for both function and aesthetics, ensuring continuity throughout the space.

Electrically, while no new service was needed, several panels were relocated due to architectural changes. Equipment power needs were carefully coordinated before construction, ensuring proper connections. New LED lighting was installed in collaboration with updated ceiling plans. Close coordination between mechanical and electrical teams ensured system integration and continuity across spaces.
