Building 203 Lab Renovations
Gainesville, Florida
Existing fan coil units were replaced with new units and air valves equipped with DDC controls to regulate space temperatures and to provide enhanced lab exhaust for room pressurization. New supply, return, and exhaust ductwork was installed throughout all areas of the renovations, incorporating new diffusers and grilles to accommodate the architectural floorplan. In coordination with the architect, existing domestic water, sanitary, and vent piping was extended to new plumbing fixtures serving the laboratory spaces. Air, gas, and vacuum piping was provided as necessary within the new laboratory spaces.
The existing electrical panels were reused to supply loads within the renovated area, with conduit and conductors being demolished back to the panel in order to provide new runs to the laboratory workstations and equipment. New LED lighting and lighting controls were integrated in compliance with FBCEC 2020 standards for a laboratory area. Egress lighting was powered from battery packs to eliminate the need for a new generator system. Emergency stand-by power was supplied to all required equipment from the existing emergency stand-by panel.
