UF Chemistry Building Labs
Gainesville, Florida
CSEI provided design and construction administration services for a renovation of two lab spaces within the Chemistry Laboratory Building (CLB) at the University of Florida. Following a preliminary test of the existing air valves performance, each existing air valve was either rebalanced or replaced to comply with the ventilation and room pressurization requirements for each of the lab spaces. The existing piping for acid waste, domestic cold water, and various lab gases was replaced and extended to six new lab stations, allowing utilities to be conveniently accessible to researchers. New LED lighting and occupancy sensors were provided throughout the area of renovation to provide energy savings along with an updated appearance and increased controllability. Additionally, existing power systems were modified to accommodate the new lab stations and equipment.
